The Debut of "Worship Wednesdays"

Growing up, Sundays would roll around and my parents would "strongly encourage" me to be in church. The part of church I dreaded the most was the "hymn singing", now more commonly heard as "praise and worship". I'm not really sure what it was, I think it was mostly because I can't sing well, still can't! :) I always enjoyed hearing other people sing. My mom always played the organ in my church growing up, and still does. I enjoy hearing her play! What I dislike the most now about worship time in church is that many songs don't require the use of the organ and it's slowly being phased out and I HATE that! To me, there's nothing like walking into a church and hearing an organ play! I love, love, love it!

Also growing up, I never listened to much Christian music. My mom bought some praise and worship CDs for me growing up and I loved them, but the trend never really stuck. I can remember growing up listening to who knows what and my mom hearing it and telling me, "Would you want to be listening to this when Jesus comes back?" That has never left my brain.

When my Dad got sick, my heart had a yearning for praise and worship music. I really couldn't get enough. It made me feel so close to the Lord. To be honest, in times when it feels tough to pray and unload my heart, I just listen to this music. Ever since Dad was sick and passed, I will not change my radio station off the local Christian station, 93.7 WDJC. I love listening to the music and the people are so encouraging. Also, when I can't access the radio, I'll sometimes listen to an I-Tunes radio station out of Chicago, IL Family Friendly WBGL! I LOVE the music and it keeps me uplifted during work.

Haley has always been one to listen to any song just one time and learn EVERY word to it. I was fairly mortified one day on the way to church when I heard her sing along with a pop song. The words she was singing were awful! Have you ever really stopped and listened to what the lyrics say? It has been so rewarding to listen to this station with her in the car and have her sing along with the praise and worship music! There is nothing like hearing an innocent child praise the Lord!

So, I've felt led to share with some of you a song each week that maybe has ministered to me or I just love! I'll share the song and the lyrics with each of you and tell you why I picked it for the week! I hope that you might feel led to do the same and introduce this music to others! It's a great way to minister to others!

So, let's get started!!

Phil Wickham - Divine Romance

The fullness of Your grace is here with me
The richness of Your beauty’s all I see
The brightness of Your glory has arrived
In Your presence God, I’m completely satisfied

For You I sing I dance
Rejoice in this divine romance
Lift my heart and my hands
To show my love, to show my love

A deep deep flood, an Ocean flows from You
Of deep deep love, yeah it’s filling up the room
Your innocent blood, has washed my guilty life
In Your presence God I’m completely satisfied

I've been working on Wedding music the past few weeks. I really wanted to use praise and worship music within my ceremony and in searching the Internet, I ran across this one (but didn't pick it)!  Scott and I both LOVE Phil Wickham's music and his voice.

I feel like this shows what an intimate relationship with Jesus is about. Jesus provides whole-hearted love and one that changes us. Intimate time with Jesus, spent through prayer and worship, is something that we should desire as Christians. Jesus "pursues" each of us to have a divine relationship with him and as Christians, we should "pursue" Him!

Also, Jesus deserves such intimacy from us. For me personally, I become so wrapped up in staying busy that it's hard for me to just stop, and be in God's presence. Listening to this song helps me get to that place, a place of worship!

Accounting For This Life - Each one of us can interpret this song differently. What message do you get when listening to this song?

  1. Lindsey,
I really needed to hear that song. I love that when you need to hear from God, he speaks, that when you need Him to listen, he does. I love that have a Father that loves me unconditionally. Thanks for posting that.
